Welcome to our Lymphatic Drainage Massage Course. You are about to embark on a holistic journey that will stimulate the most powerful system in our bodies, cleansing, detoxing and removing the wastes from the human body.
In our course, students will learn specific, specialised techniques and the principles on performing a lymphatic drainage massage. This treatment encourages the movement of lymph fluids around the body.
Lymphatic drainage massage is a gentle clinical technique that stimulates a malfunctioning or fatigued lymphatic system. Supporting the lymphatic system in good condition is imperative for promoting good health.
Our Lymphatic Drainage Massage Course starts with theory covering all aspects of clinical MLD followed by a extensive day of practical hands on training, Students will be instructed to learn the step by step Vodder style sequence with massage that is essential to complete the CPE course.
What is Lymphatic Drainage Massage ?
Lymphatic Massage is commonly referred as Lymphatic Drainage which is a specialised massage type that gently assists the lymphatic system in maintaining the body’s fluid balance, blood circulation, and immune mechanisms. This involves a gentle rhythmic massage treatment and movement of the hands which pushes fluid towards the lymph nodes. Once fluid reaches the nodes, it can be transported elsewhere in the body, using the lymphatic drainage system. This can assist the body’s natural ability to remove any build-up of toxins.
The system’s network of vessels and nodes contains lymph, a mixture of water, proteins, immune system components, waste products, and other remnants of cell metabolism.
At Le Spa Massage Academy, we enhance the traditional MLD sequence by beginning each treatment with a dry-brushing stimulation technique. This added step prepares the skin, boosts surface circulation, and creates an elevated experience for both therapist and client. It also allows therapists to incorporate additional MLD techniques, making the session more comprehensive, enjoyable, and effective.
How do lymphatic drainage massages actually work?
Said to help the lymphatic system do its job, lymphatic drainage massage allegedly helps to speed up the removal of waste and toxins from the body.
Pressure-wise, it’s much lower in intensity and follows a particular stroke pattern to generate its results, with the first stroke being done to stretch the skin, while the second, more directional stroke is performed to send lymphatic fluid towards the nearby lymph nodes.

The difference between Vodder vs Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage
The Vodder Method Manual Lymphatic Drainage is a gentle, slow, and highly structured technique developed for therapeutic and clinical outcomes. It uses very light, rhythmic movements that follow the natural direction of the lymphatic system. This method is ideal for supporting fluid movement, reducing swelling, and assisting recovery-especially after surgery or for clients with sensitive conditions.
Brazilian Lymphatic Drainage is a more dynamic and results-focused approach. It uses firmer pressure, faster rhythm, and continuous flowing movements to stimulate circulation and encourage visible body contouring. Many clients choose this technique for reducing bloating, enhancing body shape, and achieving an immediate “lighter” feeling after the treatment.
The key difference comes down to intention and technique:
- Vodder focuses on precision, safety, and internal balance using light pressure
- Brazilian focuses on sculpting, stimulation, and visible results using firmer pressure
Both methods support the lymphatic system, but they create very different experiences and outcomes. Choosing the right one depends on whether the goal is therapeutic care or aesthetic results.

ACCREDITATION
A Professional Certificate is gained at the end of the Course showing completion of 16hrs training. The CPE/CPD awarded can differ between massage associations, please contact your association for specific details. Points can be awarded for hours of training or for days of training.
Assessments:
Le Spa Massage Academy will conduct assessments towards the end if the course. Upon successful completion the students will receive their certificates.
Entry Requirement:
- Minimum Cert IV Relaxation Massage
The aim of our signature Lymphatic Massage Course is to introduce and educate qualified Massage Therapists, and other qualified health workers.

Course Fee:
$660 for 1 day course (for qualified Remedial Therapists CPE points)
$1,320 for extended course (36 hrs industry required training for non-qualified massage therapists to achieve full practitioner accreditation)
