WHAT IS A PROFESSIONAL FACIAL PEEL TREATMENT?
A professional facial peel treatment is a skin treatment that uses a carefully selected chemical exfoliating solution to remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and encourage fresher, smoother looking skin underneath.
Depending on the peel used, it may help to improve dull or uneven skin tone, rough texture, congestion, mild pigmentation, fine lines, and acne-prone skin. Professional peels can vary from gentle superficial peels with little downtime to stronger treatments that require more advanced training and aftercare.
For a gentle facial service, a professional description could be:
Professional Gentle Facial Peel Treatment – A customised exfoliating facial designed to refresh and renew the skin, improve texture and brightness, and support a smoother, more radiant complexion.
COURSE RECOGNITION & DELIVERY
Le Spa Massage Academy offers a 1-day in person training course covering all the essential theory, correct treatment protocols and practical tuition to ensure you can safely & effectively perform Facial Peel Treatments.
Class delivery is a dynamic small group training environment, where you will have the opportunity to swap and practise techniques with fellow students, particularly designed with 6-8 intensive hours of practice, which focuses on providing students with all the essential skills and knowledge prior to starting in the workforce.
More excitingly, by enrolling in the course, students will not only have the opportunity to practice the techniques on real clients but they may also receive in-person treatment demonstration from the trainer so they can experience and understand what the client feels like when receiving the same service that you are providing.
Prefer personalised training?
A one-on-one private training option is available for students who prefer focused, customised guidance. This option allows for individualised attention, flexible scheduling, and targeted feedback to accelerate your skills and confidence.

TREATMENT AFTERCARE INFORMATION
After a professional facial peel, the main goal is to protect the skin barrier while it heals. The exact aftercare depends on whether the peel was superficial, medium, or deep, so the practitioner’s product-specific instructions should always come first.
DO after a facial peel
- Keep the skin clean with a gentle touch. Use a mild cleanser and lukewarm water – no scrubbing.
- Moisturise regularly with a simple, soothing moisturiser to support the skin barrier.
- Wear broad-spectrum SPF 30–50+ every day, and minimise direct sun exposure. Freshly peeled skin is more vulnerable to pigmentation and irritation.
- Let peeling or flaking happen naturally. Do not try to speed it up.
- Keep hydrated and treat the skin gently.
- Use a cool compress if needed for mild heat or discomfort, provided this is appropriate for the peel used.
- Follow the recommended post-treatment products and instructions from your therapist or clinician.
DON’T after a facial peel
- Do not pick, peel, scratch or pull away flaking skin. This can increase the risk of irritation, pigmentation and scarring.
- Avoid direct sunlight and tanning. Sun exposure following a professional peel can contribute to complications, including pigment changes and scarring.
- Avoid retinol/retinoids, AHA, BHA, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, strong vitamin C, benzoyl peroxide and other exfoliating or irritating actives until the skin has recovered and according to the peel manufacturer’s protocol.
- Avoid scrubs, exfoliating brushes and cleansing devices.
- Avoid waxing, dermaplaning, microdermabrasion, microneedling, IPL/laser and additional peels until the skin has fully recovered.
For the early recovery period, avoid anything that causes excessive heat, sweating or irritation, such as very hot showers, saunas and strenuous exercise, particularly if the skin is still red or sensitive.
Avoid heavy or irritating makeup until the skin is comfortable and intact.
Avoid smoking during recovery; professional dermatology guidance specifically advises avoiding smoking following professional peels because it can interfere with healing and increase complications.
Normal reactions after a light peel can include mild redness, tightness, dryness and some flaking. However, severe or worsening pain, significant swelling, blistering, pus, spreading redness, fever, or unexpected dark/light pigmentation should be assessed promptly by an appropriately qualified healthcare professional.
